Omada Follow Up

Close to a year ago I made a blog post outlining a throttling issue with my TP-Link ER605 Omada Router, when Aussie Broadband increased my speed limit up to 500Mbps but my router was capping out at around 250Mbps. After 12 months of having to run the router in standalone mode and not adopted into my Omada eco-system I was about ready to throw it all out and replace it with Ubiquiti gear.

I figured I’d have a go at raising a support ticket with TP-Link first, and what should have been assumed the first thing they requested I do was update the firmware. Despite not being listed in the release notes, low and behold a firmware update earlier this year has resolved it! I am able to enjoy full speeds and my router adopted into my Omada network…Yay.

Had the router been adopted in the first place, might have seen that firmware update sooner. One frustration was that there were several to get it up to date (they seem to be busy) you have to apply them one by one sequentially and can’t just install the latest one to get up to date.

Saved myself a few hundred bucks on a complete gear replacement which was nice!

Thanks TP-Link.
